Construction and Fit out
JCT Intermediate with Contractor’s Design
Our client needed to renovate their existing facilities to offer a high-specification residential facility for young people. We were appointed with only a two-week lead-time and a strict programme of works; the college needed to be operationally ready to welcome students at the start of the new academic year.
The project brief was to refurbish and remodel the Grade II listed house and stable blocks, creating light and spacious classrooms and living spaces, a digital studio, science lab and catering facilities. It was important that the space we created was homely, welcoming and flexible to cater for the students’ varying special educational needs.
Work included major asbestos removal, stripping out existing fittings and fixtures, minor demolition bearing in mind the age and condition of the building, complete redesign of M&E services in rapid timeframe to bring the building in line with current regulations, the M&E scope included a complete rewire of small power, new lighting throughout, new access control throughout building, new fire alarm system, and new boilers, stripping out and replacing old lead hot and cold pipework, and replacing all flooring and redecorating throughout.
The project was successfully completed on time, before the new term.
